Why Study Russian at Iowa?

We offer four levels of courses in Russian, teaching students to speak, read, understand, and write in this fascinating language. In addition, we offer courses on Russian literature, cinema, and culture. A degree in Russian opens doors to careers in the federal government (foreign service officers, social workers, interpreters), in print media and broadcasting (correspondents, advisors), as human rights advocates, working for NASA, and much more.

Students can practice their Russian at conversation hour and with the Russian peer tutor!
